Wednesday, March 24, 2010 22:20 - Around 10:20 on Thursday Station 32 was alerted to an apartment fire on Castleton Court. The address given was right across the street from the station. Rescue 32 was on scene in less than 2 minutes. Member on the scene checked in with nothing showing. When Rescue 32 arrived entry was made in the reported apartment they were met with heavy smoke under pressure and bystander reporting someone inside. A crew knocked down flames from the Kitchen while a primary search was started. The person in the apartment was known to the firefighters of Station 32 as a patient from medical calls to be wheel chair bound. Search of the living area and bedrooms turned up nothing. When the fire was knocked down a search of the fire area was started and the occupant was found deceased. Other search of the adjoining apartment turned up negative for fire and people. The fire was turned over to the Gaston County Police and the Fire Marshal's office for investigation.
